Service was great!!! Shay showed hospitality to its best. Great atmosphere and extremely good food…I’m a visitor from out of town, next time I’m in the LA area, this will be one of my go to spots. Thankyou!

Food was fantastic!! True southern food and hospitality!! Once you enter the restaurant , it feels like you transported to the south and I’ve never been there!!!! The fried collard greens were on point, the beef brisket was soooo tender, catfish was moist and delicious, baked beans, Mac and Cheese were just right!!! Will definitely be coming back for sure to try the rest of the menu. Oh and the banana pudding and corn bread..…… wow!!! Thank you to our waitress and so sorry I didn’t get your name but you are a Gem!!

Visiting CA and heard a few positive reviews about this place so I decided to give it a try. I traveled with 3 adults and everyone got something to try so we had a close to $100 order.

When I placed the order the confirmation text said it may be ready by 6:40 but we got no other text besides that so we made our way there by 6:30 and arrived at about 6:52.

When we arrived the woman behind the counter told my partner she would have to look for my order.. then gaslit us to say that because we arrived 12 min late they tossed our order. The manager came out to tell my partner that they don’t hold orders. Mind you we were 12 minutes late and they “tossed” a $92 order. Highly doubt it.

Instead what actually happened is they didn’t see my online order until we walked in. Instead of being honest and saying this and asking us to be patient, they bullshitted us about throwing away $90 worth of food for being 12 minutes late.

Anyway— the food was mid. Tough greens, boxed mac and cheese and canned sweet potatoes wasn’t worth the price.
At the very least the woman behind the counter was at least nice and respectful while she bullshitted us about our order so for that I’ll give an extra star.

This is my first time trying southern food. So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. Their menu is massive, Everything is made fresh in house, The owners are super nice and gave me a bunch of stuff to try. The cornbread was fluffy, crumbly buttery, fragrant, and a bit sweet. The hushpuppies were like the crunchy fried mini ball versions of the cornbread and were a bit more savory. The jambalaya had plenty of chicken, shrimp, and sausage was a bit spicy, aromatic, and tomatoey? The barbecue beans were tangy, sweet, soft, and had bits of meat and onions in it. The collard greens and cabbage were savory and soft yet still a bit crunchy. The stuffing was a bit too mushy for me but had those good warm spices. The Mac n cheese was chill and had those classic comforting mellow cheesy flaves with soft noodles. The yams were soft, sweet, and yummy like a dessert. Course gotta listen to the LA try guy and do the Mac and yam combo which was the perfect combination of sweet, savory, and comforting. Reminded me of when I used to go to Boston market and combine their cream spinach and yams. The oxtail was super meaty, rich, tender, and fatty and came on a bed of rice with some thick luscious gravy. A bit too fatty for me but good flaves. The brisket was super smokey, tender, and not dry and paired well with their homemade barbecue sauce. Their fried chicken was also really good, crispity crunchity, savory, flavorful, and juicy. It came with a zesty, vibrant, creamy lemon pepper sauce; a sweet and spicy sauce that had a good kick with a light sweetness; and a buffalo sauce that just tasted like normal vinegary spicy hot sauce. The banana pudding was sweet, fluffy, creamy, fragrant, had real bananas, nilla wafers, and was pure deliciousity. Overall this place is pretty good.

    Oxtail plate $27.99
    Shrimp chicken sausage jambalaya $17.99
    Brisket plate $23.99
    Fried chicken plate $16.99
    Banana pudding $4.99

Absolutely amazing food. The best blackeyed peas and collard greens I’ve ever tasted. We even went back the next day for more. Great service. The place looks like a dive, but with food this good who cares?!?
